CHEC possesses superiority of the tradition of specialization in
marine engineering. ZHEC has fully applied its parent company's
advantage in this area in Hong Kong, and now it occupies a leading
position within the industry.
ZHEC has constructed many wharves for both passenger and cargo
ships. The main projects include the Kwai Chung Container Terminal
No. 8 Development, the Lamma Power Station Jetty Extension, and
the new pier at the Wanchai Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The excellent quality of these projects has won them wide acclaim.
Projects currently undertaken by ZHEC include one for the maintenance
of ferry terminals exclusively operated by the Hong Kong SAR Government
and another for port and embankment maintenance.
ZHEC is also proficient in sea reclamation and construction of
revetments, breakwaters and sea walls. The Lamma Power Station
Ash Lagoon and Jetty Extension Project, which was carried out
through the use of advanced technology in 1993, still receives
high praise within the industry. In recent years ZHEC has also
participated in large-scale projects such as the Chek Lap Kok
New Airport Platform, the Tung Chung New Town Reclamation and
the Construction of Aldrich Bay Typhoon Shelter Reclamation Projects,
as well as in the "Hutchison-Whampoa" International
Container Terminal in Indonesia and a container terminal in Panama.
