ZHEC has at its disposal the human
resources, machinery and equipment for land and marine construction
works, which give it tremendous potential for the development
of site formation projects.
The scale of the new airport platform project was
immense, requiring the excavation of 70 million cubic metres of
soil and the reclamation of more than 1,500 hectares. The successful
completion of the project with its joint venture partners demonstrated
ZHEC's capability and competence in large-scale site formation
works.
The new airport platform consists of a 13km sea wall
enclosure, three-quarters of which was built primarily by ZHEC.
Moreover, single-handedly it has excavated approximately 5 million
cubic metres of materials on the Two Brother Islands for the airport
platform over a period of 18 months.
The project of the Eastern Harbour Crossing/ Lam Tin
Tunnels Site Formation of the MTR Tseung Kwan O Extension required
the excavation of some 1.5 million cubic metres of soil and rock.
The rock excavation was subject to tight blasting restrictions
owing to the proximity of the Eastern Harbour Tunnel Approach
Road and of nearby residential buildings. Thanks to its controlled
blasting techniques, good management and close coordination, ZHEC
completed the project on schedule with minimum disruption to the
public .
ZHEC won the KCRC West Rail Contract 302 Tsuen Wan Reclamation
with a very complex content of work scope. The company's top management
had put together a strong project team with integration of Hong
Kong management expertise and CHEC's traditional technological
strength, and employed outstanding management methods and expert
techniques to ensure completion of the project within the budget
and on an extemely tight schedule. In the process the company
earned widespread praise.
Other major site formation projects completed by ZHEC in recent
years have been the Tung Chung Development Phase I and Phase II
Infrastructure Projects and the Tuen Mun Zone 16 Reclamation Project.
