The project includes the construction of a sloping seawall and a lagoon for waste landfill, which will allow for the day-to-day treatment and final capping of waste. When realised, the project will be able to handle a mix of waste types including domestic, commercial and industrial waste and sludge from various treatment plants. 10 million tonnes of waste have been treated and the maintenance period will end in 2027.
Maintenance: Landfill design and restoration, including landfill gas management, leachate management, surface and groundwater management, geotextile membrane containment, top cover, landscaping, environmental monitoring and auditing systems. A mini golf course and driving range will be built on top of the restored landfill.
